maximise fuel efficiency & minimise emissions
As the name suggests a plug-in hybrid car can be plugged into an electricity supply to re-charge the vehicles batteries which in turn will reduce the amount of petrol the car needs to use. This will obviously reduce the cost per mile and the exhuast emissions of the car.
Plug-in hybrid electric cars (PHEV) have a greater electric range than conventional hybrids which means they can travel much further on electric power before the combustion engine kicks in to help. This obviously helps to reduce the running costs compared to a Petrol or Diesel car.
The short answer here is no. You car charge most Plug-in cars vai a conventianal three pin plug. Your other options are via a wall charger or a 'fast charger'.
There are currently close to 5,000 charging locations located through-out the UK and this number is constantly growing. There are over 7,600 charging devices at these locations and in the last month there has been an additional 318 charging connectors added. This just goes to show that the UK charging network is constantly expanding to accomadate the increasing numbers of plug-in hybrid cars on the road.
